India Signs Four Agreements with Ghana

India and Ghana signed four agreements in the presence of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Ghanaian President John Dramani Mahama.

    1.Cultural Exchange Program (CEP) MoU:        This agreement aims to boost cultural   understanding and exchange in art, music, dance, literature, and heritage between India and Ghana.

  1. MoU between Indian Standards Bureau (BIS) and Ghana Standards Authority (GSA): The goal is to strengthen cooperation in standardization, certification, and quality assessment.
  2. MoU between Ghana’s Institute of Traditional and Alternative Medicine (ITAM) and India’s Institute of Teaching and Research in Ayurveda (ITRA): This focuses on working together in education, training, and research for traditional medicine.
  3. Joint Commission Meeting MoU: This agreement sets up a framework for high-level talks and regular reviews of the cooperation between the two countries.

He explained that India has over 2,500 political parties, with 20 different parties governing various states, 22 official languages, and thousands of dialects. This diversity is why India always welcomes visitors with open hearts. As he shared these facts, the parliament erupted in laughter. The Ghanaian MPs burst into chuckles, and PM Modi joined in, laughing along with them.

On Thursday, Ghana honored Prime Minister Narendra Modi with its highest civilian award, ‘The Officer of the Order of the Star of Ghana.’ Afterward, PM Modi addressed Ghana’s Parliament. While speaking, he expressed gratitude for the prestigious award. He said, “I feel deeply honored to address this esteemed house today.”

He added, “It’s a privilege to be in Ghana, a land filled with the spirit of democracy. As a representative of the world’s largest democracy, I bring the goodwill and best wishes of 1.4 billion Indians. On behalf of 140 crore Indians, I thank Ghana for this highest honor.”

•Talks on Bringing India’s UPI System to Ghana

During a visit to Ghana, Prime Minister Narendra Modi met with President John Mahama. The two leaders discussed ways to boost trade and strengthen ties between their countries. They signed several agreements (MoUs) to cooperate in areas like energy, agriculture, digital technology, and developing a vaccine hub.

They also talked about introducing India’s UPI and digital payment system in Ghana to make digital transactions easier for both nations. Modi and Mahama held a joint press conference together.

PM Modi addressed Ghana’s parliament and spoke to around 15,000 members of the Indian community living there. President Mahama hosted a special state dinner in honor of PM Modi.
