Early life and family

Virat Kohli was born on 5 November 1988 in Delhi, India. He belonged to a Punjabi family. His father’s name was Prem Kohli who was a criminal lawyer while his mother was Saroj Kohli, who was a housewife. Virat has one brother and one sister. His elder brother’s name is Vikas while his sister’s name is Bhavana Kohli. Virat Kohli did his schooling from Bal Bhavan Public School, Delhi. Virat Kohli was interested in cricket since school. He first showed his talent in the junior team of Delhi.

In 2008, India reached the final of the Under-19 World Cup. Virat Kohli was the captain of the Indian team in the Under 19 World Cup tournament held in Malaysia. India defeated South Africa by 12 runs in the final match. In this World Cup, Virat Kohli scored a total of 236 runs in 6 matches which includes a brilliant century against the West Indies, which was the highest number of runs in the tournament.
