15 riots took place in seven decades, 209 Hindus killed

The report also mentions the 15 riots that took place in Sambhal during the last seven decades, the losses incurred in them and the reasons for the clashes. According to the report, 15 riots took place in Sambhal from 1936 to 2019 and 213 people were killed in them. 209 Hindus were killed in these. In 1978, after Holi, 184 Hindus were massacred, while no Muslim died.

The commission received information about the death of only four Muslims in all the riots and disturbances. Of these, two deaths were in the riots that broke out after the demolition of the disputed structure in Ayodhya in 1992 and two people died in the violence during the demonstration against CAA in the year 2019.

Muslims continued to struggle. As soon as the population of Hindus fell below 20 percent, this conflict became that of foreigners versus local Muslims and Turks and converted Hindu Pathans started fighting among themselves. The violence that broke out on November 24 last year is the result of this tension that has been brewing for many years.

Religious places on target

Along with targeting Hindus in Sambhal, the existence of religious places was also being eliminated. There were 68 pilgrimage sites and 19 holy wells in Sambhal.
